Roxborough RatPak Bluebird Project


March 8th-10th-31 Bluebird nest-boxes were installed in the Roxborough Village area, and residential area of Roxborough Park  to provide nesting sites for Western and Mountain Bluebirds. 


6 teams of volunteers made up of RatPakkers and other residents are involved in monitoring the nest-boxes weekly to check on the health and safety of the birds.


April 19th - Partially completed nest of bark, wood chips, and clothes lint in nest-box #8.  1st nesting activity.


April 29th-32nd nest-box installed to try to help Northern Flickers (woodpeckers) that have been fighting with Tree Swallows.


May 1st - Completed nest and 1st egg discovered in nest-box #9 by Sean and Delaney.


May 11th - Completed nest and 4 Bluebird eggs discovered in nest-box #31 by Karen and Heather .


May 14th - Nest-box #31 now contains 6 Bluebird eggs.

May 15th - As of today, we have the following number of nest-boxes with activity;

4 w/ partial nests

10 w/ completed nests

3 w/ eggs


August 4th-Now we have boxes with babys and some with none.
